I’ll preface this to say, when I posted this initially, I’d only ever seen Pritchard nipples loose in bulk bins with a paper price sticker on them so no instructions came with any that I’ve bought. I hope this helps others in the same or similar situation.
I love using the little red lamb nipples that you use on coke bottles to feed orphans. They let air in through the vent hole while the lamb/kid is sucking and they’re smaller so they’re more ideal for a tiny bottle baby mouth. The biggest issue is it “appears” that you’re supposed to cut the tip off to feed with them. Doing this generally makes these nipples literally pour milk because of that vent hole. So they’re usually ones I wait to use on babies that are several days old and drinking very well.
I came on a tip last night in a goat group that I used this morning, and it worked perfectly, so I thought I’d pass it along. Instead of taking scissors and cutting off the tip to open the hole for feeding, use a knife or razor blade and slice down in that tip. This allows it to close off the milk flow unless the animal is actively sucking on the nipple, so it’s not getting drowned with milk.
